The Vision

At the heart of our vision is the development of a dedicated outdoor learning center. It will serve as a year-round home base where families of all backgrounds can gather to learn, play, and grow together. This space will allow us to expand programming, host community events, and serve as a regional hub for nature-based education and environmental stewardship.

NoMi Forest Explorers envisions a permanent home for nature-based learning: 5–10 acres of land (with water as a bonus) dedicated to year-round outdoor education.

This space will serve as a welcoming hub where children and families of all backgrounds can explore, learn, and grow together.

Nature Center

A dedicated learning center with indoor & outdoor spaces located on the land will allow us to expand programming, host community events, and deepen our impact through hands-on environmental education and stewardship across Northern Michigan.

Diverse Programming

Discover our diverse programming designed to connect you with nature and essential life skills. From enriching forest school nature hikes and engaging survival workshops to hands-on fishing and hunting experiences, there's something for everyone.

Learners will explore with our guest community educators & partners practical life skills, including kitchen basics, repair, and animal husbandry, while also learning about plant identification and foraging.

community Partnerships

Partnerships with groups like 4-H, the National Parks Service, and the Manistee Conservation District further strengthen community ties, collaboration and environmental stewardship. Together, these stakeholders create a more vibrant and sustainable for all.

At the NoMi Forest Explorers nature center, leaners will explore a beautiful array of thoughtfully curated & engaging exploration stations.

We are excited to offer indoor & outdoor: music stations for creative expression, loose parts for imaginative play, tools for hands-on learning, art stations for creativity, sensory areas to stimulate the senses, and beautiful gardens to discover local flora.
