Waking Woods: Animals, Trees, & Change in Early Spring

Service Description
Early spring in Michigan is a season of change, curiosity, and resilience. Waking Woods is a 6-week forest school series designed for children and their caregivers to explore nature together as winter loosens its grip and the forest begins to stir. Once registered locations of classes will be emailed to you in a syllabus; they all will be within the Manistee County region. Using research-based curriculum from Project Learning Tree and Project WILD (including Growing Up WILD), this series blends child-led exploration, sensory play, storytelling, movement, and developmentally appropriate risky play. Each week invites families to slow down, notice seasonal changes, and build confidence outdoors—no matter the weather. This is a caregiver-present program that supports mixed ages through choice-based activities, allowing each child to engage at their own comfort level.
