Career Exploration Learning Series

Service Description

NoMi Forest Explorers' Career Series takes kids of all ages behind the scenes at real workplaces across our community. Over six sessions, children will meet local professionals, ask questions, explore real equipment and facilities, and build an understanding of the people and jobs that keep our region running - from first responders to natural resource stewards. Each visit blends real conversation with hands-on exploration. Sessions run a minimum of 1.5 hours (some of these sessions may run a bit longer due to the amount of hands on activities & exploration opportunities that will be available to us), and are held both on-site at the featured workplace and back at our NoMi home base, depending on the week. Over six Wednesdays from 4:00–5:30 p.m. (times & day of the week may vary occasionally for a one or two of the session so be sure to check the schedule), we'll explore different careers & get super hands on- plus a really cool gift from one of our stops! This is a parent-attended series so the whole family can explore and learn together. We will be visiting: Manistee County Airport - Wed, Aug 19 @ 3:00–4:30pm Fire & EMS - Wed, Sept 9 @ 4:00–5:30pm Lake County Sheriff's Dept. - Wed, Sept 16 @ 4:00–5:30pm Road Commission - Wed, Sept 23 Time TBA (may run earlier — school pickups welcome to join late and catch up!) DNR - Wed, Sept 30 4:00-5:30pm County Courthouse - TBA (not a Wednesday — likely 1st week of Sept or Oct) Time TBA Please note: as these are real, working facilities, schedules may shift due to emergency calls, flights, court proceedings, or other operational needs. We'll keep families updated as soon as we know final details, especially for the courthouse visit, which depends on coordinating around all judges' schedules. Another Note: one Wednesday will be skipped (the 26th) and the court day is not on a Wednesday, so be sure to plan accordingly! What to bring: a water bottle, comfy shoes, and a curious mind! Snacks will be provided. Cost (for the full 6-week series): * $55 per child for passholders * $65 per child for non-passholders * Each additional child: +$10
