Forest School Microscope Day
Date: 3/27/26 Time: 1-3pm Digging Into Soil Science
Service Description
Join NoMi Forest Explorers for a hands-on science day as we uncover the hidden world beneath our feet! During this immersive Forest School session, children will build basic microscope skills and talk about how scientists use tools to study things too small to see with the naked eye. Then, we’ll head outside to collect soil samples from different areas of our forest space. Children will observe texture, color, moisture, and composition before preparing their own soil slides to examine under the microscope. What tiny particles, organic matter, and living organisms might we discover? This experience blends outdoor exploration with real-world science, encouraging curiosity, patience, and critical thinking. By studying soil up close, children gain a deeper understanding of ecosystems, decomposition, and the important role soil plays in supporting all life. Come ready to dig, discover, and explore the microscopic magic of the forest floor! 🔬🌱
