From 5 US dollars
Wellston Arboretum

Service Description

Join us at the Wellston Arboretum for an afternoon of hands-on investigation as we dig into (literally) the secret world beneath our feet. We'll use our tools, our journals, and the scientific method to explore the wiggly, wonderful world of worms. A map of the Wellston Arboretum location will be posted below. 🌧️ Worm Emergence Hunt Early April is prime worm season - Kids can count, measure, and sketch different worms they find in their journals. 🔬 Scope Camera Close-Ups Use the snake scope cameras to get a detailed look at worm anatomy — segments, the clitellum (the thick band), and how they move. 🪨 Castings & Soil Investigation Keep an eye out for worm castings — those little piles of processed soil on the surface. Use magnifying glasses to compare casting soil vs. regular soil: texture, color, clumping. What to Bring: Sturdy, mud-ready boots · weather-appropriate layers · a nature journal & pencil · water bottle · rain gear just in case
